Konia, Paphos

Konia is a village located on the northeastern boarder of Paphos cascading down the mountain, with lovely views of Paphos below as well as perfect sunsets across the blue water of the Mediterranean Sea. There are several Stories behind where the name Konia came from, the first deriving from the word Konnos which means ‘Clay’ in Greek although this is unlike to be true due to the rarity of actual clay in the ground. The most likely story behind the name of Konia is the that of the early settlers who were said to be Greeks originating from Asia who gave the village the name ‘Konya’
Konia is rich in history, with its Christian church known as Apostolos Iacovos Adelfotheos which was partially destroyed during an earthquake in 1953 then later rebuilt in 1981.
